Anyone who has spent time on a trout stream with a fly rod knows how therapeutic it can be. All the pressures just seem to fade away for the time you are casting a fly to rising wild trout. We look forward to sharing one of life's most mystifying pleasures with you. ![]() The school begins in Philipsburg, Montana, home of the famous Rock Creek. This is one of the few remaining Blue Ribbon trout streams left in Montana. Headquarters for the school are located on the Middle Fork tributary of this awesome river. We start the first day out with a round of introductions around the campfire and a steak dinner. What a way to bring family members and friends together!! ![]() This class is designed for people with beginner to intermediate fly fishing ability. The Royal Tine schools are four-day programs. The first day and a half you will learn about fly fishing tackle, leaders and fishermen's knots, trout food identification (we actually screen the water to compare the bugs), fly casting theory, basic fly casting, water reading, streamside courtesy, and fly presentation and fish handling. The second 2-½ days are fully guided fishing days with two anglers per instructor/guide. Your guide will continue to work with you on becoming a complete fly angler while assisting in catching some of our Montana trout The waters you will be fishing are the Big Hole River, known for it's large aggressive browns, the Beaverhead River, known for it's technical layout, and a set of private ponds, to practice your still water fishing abilities. ![]() Your instructors will be myself, Cody Hensen and Bill Kemph, (406) 683-5651, owner of Quarter Circle Nine Outfitters located in Dillon, Montana. Bill is a dedicated outdoorsman and a very fine, experienced fly fishing guide for Healing Waters Fly Fishing Lodge in Twin Bridges, Montana. Bill grew up in Southwest Montana and enjoys sharing his love for the mountains, streams and lakes of Montana. His patience, knowledge, and refreshing sense of humor categorize him among the elite!!
